1) Business Formal

Suitable for a meeting with a potential client, a presentation, or a business conference

The previously mentioned attire would fit in this category. But we can add some more details:

For men: within this style, the classic two-piece dark suit would be the most appropriate. When it comes to shirts, the best election would be a plain light-colored long-sleeved shirt, which can be also accompanied by a vest. As for the shoes, the most suitable ones would be classic lace-up shoes, preferably in black or dark brown color. Crown this business attire with accessories such as a tie, a classic belt, a briefcase, or cuff-links.

For women: women would opt for a two-piece dark suit as well; be it a set of jacket and skirt, jacket and trousers, or jacket and a dress. But whichever is chosen, shirts would have the same characteristics as the ones for men. In the case of choosing a skirt or a dress, it is advisable to wear flesh tone tights and heels. Hair should be worn tied back and jewelry should be modest and simple.

This kind of business attire can be observed in establishments such as banks, insurance companies, and political institutions; and implies that the person is respectable and represents a professional company in the public eye.

2) Smart Casual

This type of business attire is less strict but equally suitable for conferences.

For men: In this style, wearing a suit or a tie is optional. It can be substituted by a blazer and dress pants. Shirts can be printed, and turtleneck is also suitable. When it comes to shoes, the only requisite is that they should be darker than the trousers.

Chapter 1. A Christmas present from Thailand: 20 new clients

To get the first reward, I had to work hard. And I got it 40 days after I became a GIG's client!

It all started when I got acquainted with a woman from Thailand thanks to a friend of mine. I gave her and her son generous gifts, and later went to Thailand for Christmas. There, 20 people became my clients in just a month!

However, when I came back home, I realized that the structure wouldn't work independently – I needed to be around. Back in Norway, I had to work almost single-handedly. I am very grateful to my sponsor though, who always supported and helped me solve every issue I had.

Chapter 2. The power of the Internet

After that, I went to Thailand a few times, but I was not very lucky. I was always telling people who I was, and what I was doing, apart from contacting those who liked my posts on Facebook. Additionally, I signed up in every social network so that people could contact me easily. I always inserted the link to my Global InterGold profile in those other profiles of mine. But interestingly enough, I was mostly contacted through Skype.

A few months passed since I had become a GIG's client when I was contacted by one of my friends from Thailand. I immediately wanted to make him my direct referral but then, I came up with a better idea. After that, the 20 of us went to have dinner together. I decided to pay for everything since 3,000 Thai Baht (which is only 80 EUR) was not a big deal for me as opposed to Thais, which is quite an amount. The next morning, I attended a scheduled meeting. Three customers from my team accompanied me, and I decided to pay for their hotel rooms too. I knew that, given the Thai culture, it would work for my benefit. And I was not wrong

Context matters

One single presentation cannot be suitable for every situation. Remember that making a business presentation in front of 50 people differs from, for example, a face-to-face meeting in a café. Take into account the needs of your audience and adjust your presentations accordingly.

Tip: Whether you are in a face-to-face meeting, or a presentation in front of a wider audience, remember to be both formal and close to the people.

Keep it simple

People are mistaken when thinking that a good presentation has to have a lot of statistical data, tables and diagrams. Indeed, graphics are useful, but overusing them does not make the presentation more professional.

Tip: When planning a presentation, ask yourself these questions on every slide: “What do I want to inform about on this slide? Is the information relevant? Is the message clear?”

Less but straightforward words

A 15-min-long but straight-to-the-point presentation is better than an hour-long repetitive one.

Tip: Check the slides out from the listeners’ perspective. Would you be interested in listening to that information? If in doubt, cut it out!

Pictures help

We tend to perceive and memorize visual information better. Use pictures with a similar style and include a couple of sentences or a few words.
